Tapioca Utility

Textile industry: In weaving technology, in order to size the fabric produced to be smooth and shiny, we use cassava starch to make the fabric as soft as possible..

In addition, cassava starch is used in the production of fabric fibers to create a complete fabric fiber, avoiding the situation where the fabric fibers created do not decompose and do not stick together. It is also used to print colors for fabrics. Fabric printing is the most used application of cassava starch. Currently, in addition to cassava starch, manufacturing plants have used modified starch for use in weaving.

Animal feed: Cassava roots can be processed into chips and pellets that can be used in animal feed for cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, poultry, and farmed fish. Cassava leaves are a source of food for livestock.

Food: Cassava is widely used in Nigeria as food.  In the northern part of the country, it is eaten raw as a delicacy.  For examples: Bread, wheat noodles, and rice noodles use tapioca starch as a replacement to reduce production costs; Canned foods use cross-linked starches as a thickener.

Confectionery: Tapioca starch is used in confectionery for different purposes such as: Improving stability during the solidification process of confectionery, marshmallows, and candy corn. Lower the freezing temperature of candy. Increase viscosity and transparency to help improve the product's glossy surface. Reduce water absorption and oxidation.

MSG: Tapioca starch is a popular source for making MSG in Asia. It is used to enhance flavor in foods, for example, Ajinomoto.
