I: Tapioca Starch
1. According to news from cassava factories, factories in the Northern and Central regions have stopped production, fresh cassava roots are still purchased and used for other purposes such as making cassava chips and handmade flour. , ...Along with that, some factories in the Central Highlands and Tay Ninh areas still produce but run intermittently.
According to information from traders, there is a lot of demand for purchasing prices from large Chinese corporations and companies. However, the amount of goods that match the trading price with Vietnamese cassava factories is still limited. The reason is said to be that Chinese customers paid too low a purchase price.
According to market news, it is expected that Chinese factories will return to purchasing goods starting around July.
2. The Thai Cassava Association announced that the selling price of cassava starch remains the same as the previous week, at 555 USD/ton FOB Bangkok (announced June 4, 2024). Note: Export prices published on Thailand's website are the transaction prices of the previous week. Normally, Thailand's announced price is 30 - 50 USD/ton higher than the actual price. Vietnamese factories are offering a discount of 5 USD/ton compared to last week, in the range of 505 - 520 USD/ton FOB Ho Chi Minh port.
II: Cassava Chips
According to news from cassava chip exporters, it is expected that Chinese factories will buy again starting around July, because the inventory of cassava chips in China will gradually dry up. According to statistical data, the output of cassava chips imported into China from the beginning of 2024 up to now has decreased significantly (up to 40% compared to the average of the last 3 years). The reason is said to be that Chinese factories' demand for cassava chips has decreased, in addition, corn prices are low, so factories prioritize using an increased proportion of corn instead of cassava chips.
