Exporting peeled boards creates jobs for rural workers

Drying peeled boards also makes money

Since the beginning of the year until now, the peeled board market has not been too exciting, but wood peeling facilities still produce this product regularly. Each veneer production facility creates jobs for 5-10 local workers. Along with this industry, hundreds of idle workers have more jobs thanks to drying peeled boards.

Households in Bao Thang district, Lao Cai,  receive peeled boards from production facilities, dry them and hand them back to the production facility to receive wages, helping our people earn income. However, work also depends on the manufacturer's orders.

The job of drying peeled boards seems leisurely, but it takes a lot of time. The weather is favorable, the peeling boards dry very quickly; And the most difficult thing is when it suddenly rains.

However, on average, each household can dry 2-3 blocks of peeled boards at a time. For each block of peeled boards, they are paid 100,000 VND. Each month the income from drying peeled boards is about 4-5 million VND.

Peelboard production facilities in Lao Cai province are mainly located in Bao Thang district and Bao Yen district. These are two districts with a large production forest area and a stable source of raw materials such as tallow trees, mixed wood... planted many years ago.

According to Mr. Ky, the trader said, "The cost of each truck carrying peeled boards from districts of Lao Cai province within a radius of 30-40km exported to China is about 10 million VND. You can go there in the morning and come back in the afternoon. Therefore, Lao Cai's peeled boards are mainly exported to China instead of being sold to downstream units or port containers like production facilities in Yen Bai and Phu Tho."
