Cassava market bulletin on December 2, 2024

I. About Cassava Starch:

According to news from cassava factories, cassava prices have decreased, demand for purchases has slowed, and many factories have stopped their machines during the main season. Some cassava starch export businesses believe that the reason for the decline may be due to the Chinese economy's decline, the relocation of factories from China to ASEAN countries, etc.

The Thai Cassava Association announced that the selling price of Cassava Starch remained the same as the previous week, at 465 USD/ton FOB Bangkok (announced on November 26, 2024). Normally, Thailand's announced price is 30 - 50 USD/ton higher than the actual price. Vietnamese factories are offering a price 10 USD/ton lower than the previous week, in the range of 435 - 445 USD/ton FOB Ho Chi Minh City port.

II. About Cassava Chips:

According to news from cassava chip exporters, this week's price has decreased by another 5 USD/ton compared to last week. Some cassava chip warehouses still have to export goods to clear their warehouses and prepare for the new crop of 2024-2025. Preliminary estimates show that many cassava chip businesses are losing 500,000 - 1,000,000 VND/ton, equivalent to a loss of 10 - 50 billion VND for the entire last crop.
