I. About Cassava Starch:
According to news from cassava factories, although there are no complete statistical reports, the recent storm No. 3 (YAGI) has caused significant damage to cassava growing areas in the Northern region.
It is expected that the output of fresh cassava roots in the 2024-2025 crop will decrease.
According to exporting units, the reason for the decrease in exported cassava starch transactions in the past time is that some cassava factories have reduced their selling prices too deeply, causing Chinese customers to hesitate to buy.
The Thai Cassava Association announced that the selling price of Cassava Starch remained the same as the previous week, at 535 USD/ton FOB Bangkok (announced on September 3, 2024). Note: The export price announced on the Thai website is the transaction price of the previous week.
Normally, the announced price of Thailand is 30 - 50 USD/ton higher than the actual price.
Vietnamese factories are offering the same price as last week, in the range of 480 - 505 USD/ton FOB Ho Chi Minh City port.
II. About Cassava chips:
According to news from cassava chip trading units, in the context of the Chinese economy being in decline, many factories using cassava chips as input for production have had to close due to poor output, the demand for importing cassava chips into China has decreased.
It is expected that the export volume of cassava chips from Vietnam to the Chinese market in 2024 may decrease by 35 - 40% compared to 2023.
